Reuben Sandwich Recipe

6 slices marble rye bread

1 cup sauerkraut

½ lb. sliced Swiss cheese

½ lb. sliced corned beef

4 tbsp. butter, softened

For Russian Dressing:

½ cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon horseradish cream

1 tsp. Worcestershire  sauce

2 tbsp. ketchup

a pinch of cayenne pepper

cracked pepper

salt to taste (optional)


In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, horseradish cream, worcestershire sauce, ketchup, cayenne pepper, cracked pepper, and  salt (if needed).  Set aside.

On one side of 3 slices of  bread, lay the Swiss cheese, corned beef,  Russian dressing, then the sauerkraut.  Place the other 3 slices on top of each sandwich.

Melt some butter in a pre-heat fry pan.  Place the prepared sandwiches until the bread is brown and the cheese melts.  Flip, and add additional butter for the other side of the sandwich.

Remove from heat, cut in half and serve immediately.
